M5 Drivetrain Refresh
This M5 came in with symptoms of a catastrophic timing chain guide failure. The client had owned the car for 15 years and intends on keeping it, so after discovering the plastic guides obliterated and aluminum shavings throughout the engine, I advised that a complete replacement would be the best way forward to maintain reliability and peace of mind. Partee Racing in Danville, VA supplied one of their "better than stock" S62s, along with their lightweight dual mass flywheel, upgraded clutch, and stainless steel clutch line. Additional work included:
- Transmission case reseal along with all new detents, springs, and shaft seals
- Complete shifter refresh
- New clutch slave cylinder
- New driveshaft center support bearing and rebuilt CV joint
- Differential flange o-rings, input, and output seals
- Polyurethane front differential mount
- New short brake lines at the DSC unit
- Cooling system refresh with CSF radiator
